Saturday, September 7th. Today is the St. Vrain Invitational. It's the same course (in Lyons) where Regionals will be held.
It's a mostly flat course, a couple of minor hills to deal with, and a lot of dust and heat. It looks like today will be one of those really hot days
on the course.

The Girls Varsity is first up today. Each member of the team starts preparing, getting ready in her own way.
The team is on the line, ready to roll. The adrenaline rush is heavy, but the girls refocus on the upcoming race.
Jenna (2nd one in from the left) kicks out with the leaders. It's a place she's used to being in.
The girls finish and get back to camp to rehydrate. It's been a good one - the girls finish 7th out of 20 teams, led by Jenna's 7th place individual finish.
Next up is the Boys Varsity. There are a lot of good runners & teams here today....including the Bulldogs.
The boys come on strong at the end for a solid finish. Led by Daniel Coles in 19th, the boys finish 5th as a team.
It's just after 11am and time for the Girls JV race. This one is all levels - 1A thru 5A. And it's getting warm - upper 90s on the course.
The girls JV runners push thru to the end and head back to camp for some R&R. Wow is it getting warm out here!
It's just before noon and the Boys JV is about to start. One reading has it at 105 degrees on the field. Everybody's feeling it!!
The guys all work thru the heat for some good times and PR's on the day. It sure is good to get back to camp, back to water, Gatorade, snacks, shade and the team. Everyone compares notes at the end of the race and shares their personal memories from today.
As the 7th place finisher, Jenna gets a ribbon and a personalized tshirt. Congrats on a great day, Jenna!!
Daniel picks up his ribbon for 19th among the boys and shares congrats with his competitors. Way to go Daniel!!
It's been one heckuva hot, dry, dusty day at Lyons. The new course had some minor changes, but nothing to throw us off. We've had some good runs
by some young guys and now we can start pulling the season together. Next week is the Liberty Bell and we're all looking forward to that one. It's a
fast, fast course and a major event in the Cross Country season. If you haven't been there before, join us on Friday afternoon. If you've been there
and seen how much fun this event is, come back & savor it again.
The Bulldogs have served notice. Both Boys and Girls teams expect to be in the thick of it this year. As the defending State 3A Champs, the Boys aren't going to make it easy on anyone to pick up the crown this fall. Some of our youth want to be a part of the next Championship Team. The Girls are coming together and focusing on competing at State. It's gonna be a fun ride.
