Wow. There's something about the Mead Stampede that just makes the sky cry. Once again we get to Mead in the middle of drizzly, rainy monsoon season. Today will alternate between a fine drizzle and a solid, if light, rain. It's gloomy out and we get soaked quickly. But nothing can dampen the spirits of the Bulldogs. We compete and have fun no matter what.

The JV Girls start it off today. It's wet & rainy and at times the rain is coming down pretty hard. But it's time to run. So here we go!
Bethany fights thru the mist to lead the JV Girls to the end.
As the JV Girls finish, the JV Boys get ready to start. It's not raining as hard now, but it's still chilly.
Colter leads the JV Boys to the finish.
Next up: the Varsity Boys. It's just misting now, but it's getting a bit chillier. The back half of the course is getting muddier, as is the last 60 yards to the finish line. This is a day for the 'mudders'. Gotta watch your step and not try to turn too quickly in the loose soil.
Isaiah outsprints the competition and finishes 2nd for the 'Dogs. He's weathered the mud quite well, but wishes the ground would have allowed more of a sprint for the last 800 meters. Still, it's Isaiah's highest finish so far this season.
Now the last race of the day - the Girls Varsity. The rain has pretty much stopped, but the chill is in the air. It's getting cooler and cooler.......
Jenna & Amie get out fast and give the Bulldogs 2 of the top 6 runners at the start.
Jenna kicks in to a 2nd place finish - also her highest so far this season. She's moving up each week......
There's gonna be a whole lot of great memories from this year...........but these might not be part of 'em!
The day is done and we start to pack up to go. The Boys Varsity finishes 2nd on the day, and the Girls Varsity finishes 4th. It's been wet & sloppy, but nothing stops the 'Dogs from performing. Although we were hoping for a fast course & some PR's today, we'll settle for another good step towards competing at State in a month.
